Hong Kong is actively pursuing a stronger alliance with Saudi Arabia as it aims to bolster its status as a global innovation and technology center, according to Chief Executive John Lee. This ambition was articulated during a meeting with Saudi Minister of Communications and Information Technology, Abdullah Alswaha.

The meeting coincided with the LEAP East technology exhibition, which is being hosted in Hong Kong for the first time outside its traditional Middle Eastern setting. This prominent event has attracted numerous speakers and exhibitors from around the globe, underscoring the increasing global cooperation in the technology sector.

Lee emphasized that hosting LEAP East signifies the deepening ties between Hong Kong and Saudi Arabia and reinforces Hong Kong’s pivotal role in linking international businesses with Asian markets. He extended an invitation to Saudi companies, entrepreneurs, and technology experts to leverage Hong Kong as a strategic base for expanding their influence across Asia, highlighting the potential for robust collaboration in areas such as innovation, technology, and investment.

The discussion highlighted the mutual dedication to enhancing economic and technological partnerships as both regions explore avenues for a sustained and fruitful relationship. The focus on long-term collaboration is aimed at unlocking new opportunities that benefit both Hong Kong and Saudi Arabia in the evolving global tech landscape.
