In a bid to enhance public comprehension of scientific innovation and elevate science literacy across the nation, China is set to kick off its National Science Popularization Month. This extensive initiative will unfold under the banner of “Science Transforms Lives, Innovation Secures the Future,” embracing a diverse array of exhibitions, lectures, science tours, and activities designed to engage the public.
Beijing will serve as the hub for over 100 exhibitions and events, spread across its major venues. Simultaneously, more than 150 activities are being orchestrated by national scientific societies throughout the country. The aim of these events is to demystify basic research and the latest scientific advancements, making them more comprehensible and accessible to the general populace.
Participants will be granted unique opportunities to visit laboratories and research facilities, gaining firsthand insight into groundbreaking scientific progress. This initiative not only seeks to inform but also to inspire the public by showcasing the tangible impacts of science on everyday life.
A significant component of this month-long programme is the 2026 World Conference on Science Literacy, slated to take place in mid-September in Beijing. This conference will gather representatives from various countries to engage in discussions on science literacy and explore avenues for international collaboration in the scientific domain.
