During a recent inspection visit to Ulanqab in Inner Mongolia, Chinese President Xi Jinping emphasized the importance of ecological conservation and sustainable green development. His visit underscored initiatives such as wetland restoration, biodiversity protection, and the advancement of eco-friendly computing infrastructure.

While at the Huangqihai Lake nature reserve, Xi reviewed efforts to rejuvenate the lake, which had been at risk of drying up due to climate-related factors. Conservation measures have successfully restored and expanded the lake’s water body. Xi highlighted the necessity of implementing China’s wetland protection law, maintaining strict ecological protection boundaries, and prioritizing natural restoration of degraded wetlands with scientific intervention when needed.

Xi also visited the Chahar High-Tech Development Zone, where he evaluated the progress of China’s “East Data, West Computing” initiative. This project aims to enhance the distribution of computing resources across the nation. He stressed the need for efficient operation of completed projects and timely completion of ongoing developments, urging authorities and industry stakeholders to promote computing infrastructure that is efficient, environmentally friendly, and safe, thereby boosting China’s digital economy while supporting sustainable development.

Additionally, Xi examined local agricultural and livestock products during his visit, encouraging officials to better connect production with markets to help increase the incomes of farmers and herders. This holistic approach reflects his commitment to integrating ecological sustainability with economic and technological progress.
