Loong Air, an airline based in China, has inaugurated a new direct service linking Chengdu Tianfu International Airport with Taichung International Airport. This initiative represents Loong Air’s first venture into cross-strait operations, expanding its reach into Taiwan. The airline will run this route twice weekly, specifically on Tuesdays and Saturdays, aiming to enhance travel accessibility between southwestern China and central Taiwan.
The introduction of this route marks a significant addition to Taichung International Airport’s offerings. Currently, the airport hosts a total of 31 routes, either operational or announced, which include 20 regular services along with 11 charter routes. The Chengdu connection adds to the existing scheduled cross-strait destinations, which already include Nanjing and Qingdao, thereby strengthening Taichung’s network in the region.
This new service is expected to contribute to the growing travel and economic interchange between the two regions. As Chengdu is a major city in southwestern China, the direct link to Taichung enhances both business and tourism prospects, offering travelers more options and flexibility.
