During a recent meeting with Indian External Affairs Minister Subrahmanyam Jaishankar, Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi emphasized the importance of strengthening the cooperative ties between China and India. He urged both nations to build on the positive trajectory of their relationship by enhancing high-level exchanges and expanding collaboration in various sectors, including trade, media, culture, and people-to-people exchanges. Wang highlighted the need for dialogue to address sensitive issues and called for closer coordination on both regional and international affairs.
Wang Yi also advocated for China and India to work together in promoting a multipolar world order and advancing the interests of developing countries. He reiterated Beijing’s support for India’s role as the host of this year’s BRICS summit, encouraging greater partnership within the expanded framework of this international group.
On his part, Jaishankar reaffirmed India’s commitment to fostering a positive and collaborative relationship with China. He reiterated India’s established stance on sensitive topics such as Taiwan and Xizang (Tibet), underscoring India’s respect for China’s sovereignty. These affirmations reflect India’s intent to maintain and deepen its diplomatic engagement with China.
