Chinese Premier Li Qiang chaired a State Council executive meeting on Sept. 19 to review efforts aimed at building a “beautiful China” across environmental, economic, and regulatory fronts. The meeting stressed that sustainable development and high-level environmental protection are long-term, systematic priorities.
Officials highlighted the need to consolidate progress in pollution prevention, ecological conservation, and environmental restoration. Coordinated efforts are being encouraged to ensure high-quality development while maintaining environmental standards.
The meeting also focused on domestic product standards and government procurement policies. Clear classifications and specifications for key components and critical processes were emphasized, with the goal of enabling enterprises to plan investments while ensuring fair competition. This aligns with China’s policy of equal treatment for domestic and foreign-funded firms in government procurement.
In addition, the State Council reviewed a revised draft of the banking regulation and supervision law, approving it in principle for submission to the National People’s Congress Standing Committee. The meeting stressed the importance of stable banking and financial institutions for the overall security of public assets, calling for stronger management systems and strict action against illegal financial activities.
